Consumer Choice Award (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008) - Healthcare Market Guide

consumer choice awardThe award identifies hospitals which healthcare consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image ratings in over 250 markets throughout the U.S. This is the thirteenth year the NRC has awarded hospitals whose consumers have recognized them for providing the highest quality healthcare.

Winners are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in the annual NRC Healthcare Market Guide study. Of the hospitals named by consumers in the study, the winning facilities rank highest in their Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs), as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. The 2008/09 NRC Healthcare Market Guide study surveyed over 200,000 households representing 400,000 consumers in the U.S.

Cooper is recognized along with such prestigious hospitals as Johns Hopkins, the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic and is the only hospital in the Delaware Valley to receive this honor four years in a row.

"Most Wired" Award - Hospitals & Health Networks

The Most Wireless program recognizes Cooper for several new technological advancements which enhance patient safety and satisfaction, including smart pumps and the new secure wireless network that allows patients and their families, access to patient educational material, assuring total security to sensitive patient information. Smart Pumps are intravenous devices with smart technology that decrease medication errors and provide enhanced information on medication administration.

In addition, Cooper also received recognition on the Most Improved list for our efforts in working towards the implementation of the Electronic Health Record which was authorized by action of our Board of Trustees. In 1998, Cooper was one of only 21 hospitals in the U.S. with 100% Computerized Physician Order Entry.

Get with the Guidelines - American Heart Association / American Stroke Association

Get With The GuidelinesSM (GWTG) is an evidence-based program for in-hospital quality improvement. It puts the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to work for hospitals, helping to ensure that the care they provide to coronary artery disease, stroke and heart failure patients is aligned with the latest scientific guidelines.

Smart Growh Award - New Jersey Future

smart growth awardThe New Jersey Future Smart Growth Awards honor projects and plans—approved or built—that reflect the most forward-looking development and redevelopment practices in New Jersey. Award-winners are chosen by an independent jury of respected professionals.

This award recognizes the positive impact that Cooper’s expansion and vision plan has made on Camden’s revitalization effort.

Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence

Beacon AwardThe award is specifically designated to recognize the nation’s top pediatric, progressive, and adult critical care units across a multitude of hospitals. The recognition itself is priceless, as it represents extraordinary commitment to high-quality critical care standards, and dedication to the exceptional care of patients and their families.

As a Beacon Award recipient, Cooper University Hospital ICU and CCU succeeded in the following areas, as measured against evidence-based national criteria: Recruitment and retention, Education, training and mentoring, Research and evidence-based practice, Patient outcomes, Leadership and organization ethics, Healing environment.

Most Efficient Use of Web Resources
- Greystone/Staywell Communications

Best-in-class 2008Greystone.Net and StayWell Custom Communications presented the 2008 Best-in-Class Website Awards, illustrating outstanding work, demonstrated results, and representing the finest in hospital and health care system website design, content, functionality, and strategic thinking.

Cooper was awarded "Most Efficient Use of Web Resources" for its Health eTalk web chats project. A two-person web development team designed and built an admin section in which doctors are provided with accounts that allow them to access submitted questions for the chats they’re hosting. Once answered, the questions are reviewed by a moderator before being posted during the live chat session. Outside of approximately 50+ hours of internal development and testing time, this project had a budget of and has been utilized by hundreds of visitors to cooperhealth.org since its launch in August of 2008.

Business Honor Roll, Challenger Award - Executive Women of New Jersey

executive women of new jerseyEWNJ's Honor Roll Award recognizes companies in New Jersey in which employees trust the people they work for, take pride in their work, and appreciate the people they work with.  As an organization focused on senior level women, EWNJ developed its honor roll award in 1998 to recognize companies in the Garden State that have: 1) Made significant gains in the representation of women at the highest levels and ensured that they are actively involved in corporate governance; 2) Have successfully implemented policies that help all employees balance work and family responsibilities.

Other recipients of this award have included Lucent, Johnson & Johnson, Schering-Plough, Prudential, Summit Bank, Hoffman-Laroche, and Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey.

Spirit of Planetree Award - Planetree Organization

planetreeCooper University Hospital's Patient-Family Centered Care Program received a 2008 Spirit of Planetree Award for our 2007 annual report and the creation of “Our Journey to Patient Family Centered Care” DVD.

Only eleven awards are given out each year to affiliates across the United States.

Best Places to Work (2007, 2008) - Philadelphia Business Journal

Best Place to WorkPhiladelphia Business Journal has named Cooper University Hospital one of its “Best Places to Work” in the Philadelphia region. The award recognizes the company’s achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees through a combination of benefits, working conditions and company culture.

Cooper also won a special award for its Errand Solutions program which was lauded as a “Best Practice in Incentive Programs.” Of the 200 companies nominated, Cooper was the only one to receive this honor.

Best Place to Work in New Jersey (2005, 2006) - NJBiz Magazine

Best places to workThe Best Places to Work in New Jersey is a celebration of jobs and the employers who provide them. The primary goal of the program is to help companies improve their workplace practices, which, in turn, helps them attract and retain the best employees, thus ensuring continued business success.

After a company enters the program, it goes through a two-part survey process designed to pinpoint areas of strength and weakness. The assessment determines the eligibility for the 50 Best Places to Work in New Jersey list. The process is managed by Best Companies Group. ModernThink, a partner of Best Companies Group, evaluated the data collected.
