New Chief of the Department of Surgery to Join Cooper University Hospital
Cooper University Hospital is pleased to announce that Jeffrey P. Carpenter, M.D., has been appointed the new Chief of the Department of Surgery for the health system. Dr. Carpenter is a board certified vascular surgeon with clinical specialties in endovascular surgical techniques. (more)

Robin L. Perry, M.D. Appointed Chief of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Cooper
Dr. Perry replaces Ronald M. Jaffe, M.D., who served as Chief of the Department with distinction for 25 years. We are very thankful to Dr. Jaffe for his extraordinary dedication and leadership of the Department for more than two decades. (more)

Cooper University Hospital announces the appointment of Harry Mazurek, Ph.D., as Administrative Director of the Cooper Research Institute. Dr. Mazurek will lead the Institute as it leverages shared resources throughout the Cooper Health System to grow sponsored research. (more)

St. Joseph’s Carpenter Society and Cooper Unveil Rehabbed Homes in Cooper Neighborhood
Six houses in the 600 block of Benson Street, immediately across the street from the Cooper University Hospital emergency room, have been rehabilitated and will be sold to families. (more)

Cooper Researchers Receive Coveted Grant from the National Institutes of Health to Study Novel Treatment for Sepsis
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has selected Cooper University Hospital physician and researcher Stephen W. Trzeciak, M.D., M.P.H., to receive one of the coveted Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Awards (K23) for his research into a novel treatment for sepsis. (more)

Could Needle Pricks be a Past Time for Lead Testing?
Researchers at The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital recently launched a clinical trial to detect levels of lead in children through a new type of test using saliva instead of blood. (more)
