Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy

VIDEO > Courtney Budd, MSPT, and Dan Bash, OT, CHT, discuss rehabilitation and physical therapy at Cooper.

Whether a surgical or non-surgical solution is the correct treatment choice, rehabilitation is an integral part of the recovery process. Our rehabilitation staff is part of the larger Bone and Joint Institute team, all working together to restore function as quickly and safely as possible.

Rehabilitation is more than applying a brace or specific technique. It is a comprehensive program designed not only to eliminate the deficits of an injury or musculoskeletal problem, but prevent it from returning.

Rehabilitate means to restore to customary activity through education and therapy. Naturally, the kind of rehabilitation needed to achieve the goal of restoring normal activity and the time and effort it will take varies with the nature and severity of each patient's specific injury. What doesn't vary is the need for specialized, focused, comprehensive care, whether a patient is being treated for a one-time problem or for a long-term condition.

The Cooper Bone and Joint Institute now offers four convenient locations for outpatient rehabilitation services: Camden, Cherry Hill, Haddonfield, and Voorhees. Each office offers personalized, comprehensive care for orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation for patients of all ages.

Patients will receive:

  • A complete and thorough initial evaluation.
  • A personalized rehabilitation plan.
  • One-on-one care: A therapist stays with the patient throughout each session, which ensures proper technique, immediate feedback, program progression, and constant reassessment.
  • Education: The therapist educates the patient about his/her injury, including how and why specific exercises are prescribed, and provides tips on injury prevention, posture, body mechanics, ergonomics, and joint conservation.

The outpatient rehabilitation services staff is composed of three physical therapists, two occupational therapists, and two physical therapist assistants. They maintain excellent communication with referring physicians and update them on each patient’s progress through initial evaluation summaries, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

Cooper also offers progressive Sports Medicine Programs for local athletes and postrehabilitation fitness programs. The offices offer state-of-the-art exercise and clinical equipment.

The Cooper Bone and Joint Institute - comprehensive, cutting-edge services to prevent, assess, treat, and rehabilitate musculoskeletal injuries.
