Cardiovascular Perfusion is an allied health profession in which a perfusionist uses a heart-lung machine and other technologies to maintain the health of patients during heart surgery and other medical procedures.
The goal of the Cooper University Hospital School of Cardiovascular Perfusion is to educate cardiovascular perfusionists who can perform the finest quality clinical procedures in accordance with the highest ethical standards. Students master these skills through participation in both clinical and laboratory research
Upon graduation you must sit for your boards to obtain Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion. In some states like New Jersey, a license is also required.
The School is committed to preparing cardiovascular perfusionists who wish to apply their skills and knowledge in the health care community. Students need to be prepared to continue their education after graduation in order to keep pace with new developments in perfusion science..
