Dr. Choi completed anesthesia residency at Yale University and started pain management at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in Pennsylvania, where he established multidisciplinary pain medicine in 1983. He practiced comprehensive and interventional pain medicine, and completed research pain fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1991.
Dr. Choi established accredited pain fellowship program and the New Jersey Pain Institute at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, the first tertiary care multidisciplinary pain center in New Jersey in 1994, where he served as a Program Director. He was also an initiative member of cancer pain management in New Jersey.
Dr. Choi has been a guest speaker at the regional, national and international educational programs. He has been elected as one of ‘Top doctors’ and ‘Best Pain Medicine Doctor in New York and New Jersey’ for the past 10 years.
Dr. Choi’s main interest in pain management is the treatment of difficult back pain problems. Dr. Choi has pioneered minimally invasive procedures using spinal epiduroscopy to resolve the failed back pain problems and for educational purposes. He has also developed numerous unique interventional pain management procedures and published articles.
