Dr. Koniges has been at Cooper since 1993 as a member of the general surgery division, and is an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Koniges is also clinical assistant professor of surgery at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He practices general surgery with an emphasis on diseases of the breast, but also in all other areas of general surgery.

Dr. Koniges attended the University of California at San Diego, graduating with a degree in Physics. He went to medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas, Southwestern Medical School. After graduating in 1981 he did his residency in general surgery from 1981 to 1986 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He spent four years as an attending in surgery at the VA Hospital in Wilmington, DE, the last two of which were as Chief of Surgery. He was in private practice at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital in Darby, PA prior to coming to Cooper Hospital in 1993.

In 2002, Doctor Koniges was named a Top Doc by Philadelphia Magazine.
