Mark J. Pello, M.D. is the Head of the Division of General and Head of the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine and Cooper University Hospital in Camden, N.J. Dr. Pello graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J. in 1971. He received his M.D. degree from Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1975.
Dr. Pello completed a Residency in General Surgery at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, N.J. He then did a Residency in Colon and Rectal Surgery at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Dr. Pello is Board Certified in General Surgery and in Colon and Rectal Surgery. He was an author or co-author in over 50 medical publications and abstracts. He has given lectures or presentations in many sites both nationally and internationally. He has been named a Philadelphia and New Jersey “Top Doctor” on a number of occasions. He has also been named one of the “Best Doctors in America”. He is a recognized expert in the diagnosis and treatment of colon and rectal disease, particularly colo-rectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. He performs minimally invasive (laparoscopic) colon surgery.
Dr. Pello is particularly interested in seeing patients for evaluation and treatment of any problems of the anus, rectum and colon.
