Dr. Kann graduated Summa Cum Laude from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA in 1993 with a BS in Biological Sciences. He received his MD degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania-Hahnemann University (now Drexel University) School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA in 1997.

Dr. Kann completed his internship and general surgical residency at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ in 2003, including one additional year of surgical research. As a resident, he received numerous local and national awards for his research and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery in 2004 at the Alton Ochsner Foundation Clinic in New Orleans, LA, before returning to New Jersey to join the staff at Cooper University Hospital.

Dr. Kann is board certified in both general surgery and colon and rectal surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and serves on this society’s Self-Assessment Committee. He has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed medical publications, invited articles, and abstracts, and has given numerous presentations at both local and national surgical meetings. His specific areas of interest include colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, fecal incontinence, minimally-invasive (laparoscopic) colon surgery, colonoscopy, endorectal ultrasound, and anorectal physiology testing.

Dr. Kann also has a strong interest in graduate medical education and serves as the Program Director of the General Surgery residency training program at Cooper University Hospital. He is a member of the Association of Program Directors in Surgery.

Dr. Kann is currently accepting new patients and consultations for the evaluation and treatment of all aspects of colon and rectal surgery.
