Dr. Cagande earned her medical degree from the Cebu Institute of Medicine Medical School in Cebu, Philippines. She then did her adult psychiatry residency training at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS), Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey where she was a Chief Resident. During her residency training she was an active member in the Graduate Medical Education Committee and Vice President of the Residency Chapter of the New Jersey Psychiatry Association. She was recognized and awarded twice the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Resident Award for Humanism and Excellence in Teaching. In addition, she was given a Golden Apple Teaching Award. Dr. Cagande also demonstrated her scholarly activities by participating and winning first and second place in the South Jersey Psychiatric Association Resident Research Award. She presented lectures to students and residents and symposiums at the annual American Psychiatric Association Conferences. Furthermore, she has published two articles and two more are currently in press.

After residency, Dr. Cagande proceeded to do a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at John Hopkins University Hospital where she was again Chief Resident. She participated in some of their research protocols and is co-investigator of a pediatric anxiety rating scale study.

Dr. Cagande is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and Board Eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is currently the Residency Training Program Director of the Department of Psychiatry at RWJMS – Cooper University Hospital, Camden Campus. Her interests are anxiety in children and women’s health.
