Anesthesiology Residency

Curriculum Overview

The Anesthesiology Residency Program at Cooper University Hospital is a fully accrediting program which meets all requirements of the American Board of Anesthesiology. It provides residents with three years of clinical training in anesthesia: CA-1, CA-2, and CA-3.

The curriculum offers a complete range of anesthetic experience including extensive training in cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, regional, general surgical, pediatric and critical care anesthesia.

During CA-1, the resident learns evaluation and management of patients undergoing gynecologic, obstetric, orthopedic, otolaryngology, and a wide variety of other procedures. The CA-2 years is spent in subspecialty anesthesia training including: pediatric anesthesia, neuroanesthesia, cardiac transplant and obstetric anesthesia. CA-3 residents are encouraged to seek concentrated exposure to all anesthetic subspecialties: pain management, cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, obstetric, or pediatric.
