The Cooper Vascular Center

Vascular Diagnostic Tests

TuriEarly detection and diagnosis is important to reduce stroke, death, limb loss and disability from vascular disease. Cooper Vascular Center provides state of the art, non-invasive diagnostic services. With early detection, vascular disease can be treated effectively with cutting-edge non-invasive interventions and surgical techniques.  Procedures performed by interventional radiologists are generally less costly and are less traumatic to the patient, involving smaller incisions, less pain, and shorter hospital stays.

The approach and design of the Cooper Vascular Center is truly unique.  In this setting, interventional cardiology, interventional radiology, and vascular surgery work collaboratively in pursuit of the best treatment option.  “The integration of therapies offer clinicians more options for their patients,” says Elias Iliadis, M.D., director of Peripheral Vascular Interventions at Cooper.  “Previously referrals were delayed until patients met surgical criteria.  This delay could impact the quality of life and life expectancy quite dramatically.  Studies show that the presence of peripheral vascular disease predicts a 50% mortality rate within 10 years, so early intervention is key,” he added.

Though vascular disease is a systemic phenomenon, several areas are most commonly affected by PVD, and respond well to endovascular intervention: carotid artery disease, renal artery stenosis, subclavian artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysms, and iliac and superficial artery stenosis.

The Center for Vascular Disease strives to provide quality patient care and improve your life by reducing complications from disease conditions. Interventional Radiology is a medical specialty that uses image-guided, minimally invasive diagnostic and treatment techniques that are often an alternative to surgery.

The Center offers a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Utilizing cutting edge technology, this medical department has gained a national reputation for providing “minimally invasive” solutions to a variety of complex medical problems.  These highly qualified physicians treat diseases non-operatively, often using small catheters or other devices and tools guided by radiologic imaging.
