Joseph Parrillo, M.D., is director of the Cooper Heart Institute and head of the Division of Cardiovascular Disease and Critical Care Medicine. Regarded by many as one of the top five cardiovascular disease experts in the world, Dr. Parrillo is a graduate of Cornell Medical College. He completed his residency and fellowships in cardiovascular disease at the nation’s premier cardiac program, Massachusetts General Hospital. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, critical care medicine, and immunology.
Dr. Parrillo has authored more than 800 books, articles and abstracts and is considered one of the world’s preeminent clinicians and researchers in cardiovascular disease and critical care medicine. Dr. Parrillo is distinguished both by his medical expertise and business acumen. When recruited to Cooper in early 2002, Dr. Parrillo recognized that the South Jersey region did not have an advanced cardiovascular program. Since that time he has amassed a team of world-renown cardiovascular experts and provided access to the state-of-the art clinical services and research options.
