Cooper Heart Adds to Physician Armamentarium
The expanding cardiac and vascular needs of the South Jersey region has led to the addition of two experienced cardiologists to the Cooper Heart Institute: Maritza Cotto, M.D. and Douglas Richter, M.D.
Dr. Cotto attended medical school and completed her medicine residency and cardiovascular disease fellowship at State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Cotto has a special interest in heart failure management, women and heart disease, cardiac complications in pregnancy, peripheral vascular disease, echocardiography, and diagnostic catheterization. She sees outpatients at the Camden and Cherry Hill locations.
Dr. Richter is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College. He completed his medicine residency and cardiovascular disease fellowship at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, Pa. Dr. Richter is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, and has a special certification in echocardiography. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Richter has a special interest in echocardiography, mitral valvular disease and diseases of the aorta. He will see outpatients in the Cherry Hill and Camden locations.
“Dr. Cotto and Dr. Richter are both superior clinicians,” says Joseph E. Parrillo, M.D., director of the Cooper Heart Institute. “Their diagnostic expertise is an asset to our physician group and to the residents of South Jersey.”
