There is much in the news about the H1N1 pandemic influenza. This new virus was first detected in the United States in April 2009. Since that time, it has spread from person to person worldwide, probably in much the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses spread.
Illness with this novel H1N1 virus has ranged from mild to severe. While most people who have become ill have recovered without needing medical treatment, hospitalizations and deaths from infection with this virus have occurred.
You can reduce the likelihood of infection by using good personal hygiene. We have provided basic information to remind you how to stay healthy.
Because no one will know how serious this year’s flu season will be, you will want to prepare your family in advance. We have also provided information about home preparedness.
Due to the H1N1 Pandemic Flu, children under 18 years old will not be allowed to accompany or visit patients in the hospital (One Cooper Plaza). Also, only 2 visitors per patient will be allowed in the patient rooms. This will be effective until further notice. Thank you for your cooperation. |
