Patient Guide
For Your Safety

:: Universal Precautions
Universal Precautions will be used in all patient care activities. Universal Precautions is a system of using various methods of barrier protection when in contact with potentially or actually infectious materials from all persons. Barrier protection includes gloves, cover gowns, masks and eye wear.

The Universal Precautions system has been recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and is a requirement of the New Jersey State Department of Health.

:: Bed Rails
Bed rails may be raised for your protection and safety. If you would like the rails lowered please call a nurse. Do not try to climb over the bed rails or lower them by yourself.

:: Fire / Disaster Drills
State regulations require that hospitals conduct periodic fire and disaster drills. Do not be disturbed if you see or hear a practice drill in progress. The door to your room may close automatically during these drills. You will receive instructions from hospital personnel in the event of an actual emergency.
