Safe Kids Southern New Jersey The National Safe Kids Campaign is the first and only national non-profit organization dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury – the number one killer of children ages 14 and under in the United States.

Safe Kids Southern New Jersey is one of more than 450 state and local coalitions who are part of Safe Kids Worldwide, a global network of organizations whose mission is to prevent accidental childhood injury. More than 450 coalitions in 16 countries bring together health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, governments and volunteers to educate and protect families.

Safe Kids Worldwide was founded in 1987 as the National Safe Kids Campaign by Children's National Medical Center with support from Johnson & Johnson. There is no one device or solution to prevent effectively all types of accidental childhood injuries. Instead, Safe Kids combines several factors to create programs that reduce injuries.

While injury is a threat to children everywhere, significant progress has been made to reduce the risks. This progress must continue, and the lessons learned from years of injury prevention work must be adapted to help create a safety culture in every country where it is sorely lacking.

Our Mission

Seatbelt safety Safe Kids Southern New Jersey's mission is to decrease unintentional injury and death to children ages 14 and under from:

Motor vehicle crashes and pedestrian injuries
Bike crashes
Drownings
Fires and scald burns
Poisonings
Unintentional shootings
Falls
Airway obstructions

Ninety percent of these injuries could be prevented if families took the simple steps necessary to protect their children.

Upcoming Car Seat Safety Classes, Inspections and Safety Classes

We offer a regular schedule of free car seat safety classes and inspections throughout South Jersey. These events provide you with the opportunity to meet with a certified child passenger safety technician who will provide you with the proper instruction and installation of a child's car seat. Classes are intended for parents, grandparents and anyone who transports infants and toddlers.

Honorary Chairs

Rick Williams, co-anchor of Action News Morning newscast and Action News at Noon, with co-anchor Monica Malpass, joined WPVI-TV, Channel 6 in April of 1988 as a general assignment reporter. Prior to that, he worked as a reporter at WRAL-TV in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, at WOWK-TV, Huntington, West Virginia, and at WUSA in Washington, D.C. He graduated in 1983 from Howard University, Washington, D.C. with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Jocelyn Mitchell-Williams, M.D., is a member of Cooper University Hospital's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
