Cooper general surgeons provide comprehensive surgical services for diseases of the breast, endocrine system, gastrointestinal tract, colon, rectum, neck, and vascular system, as well as skin, soft tissues, and benign and malignant tumors.
They use the latest techniques, such as laparoscopic surgery, to provide patients with safer, more effective treatments.

Cutting-Edge Surgical Procedures
Cutting-edge general surgery procedures include laparoscopic colon resection using a hand-assisted device; laparoscopic surgery of the appendix and gall bladder, and for GERD and other disorders; and oncoplastic surgery using a V-Y advancement flap (a local tissue transfer) to maintain the shape and contour of the breast.
Traditional general surgery procedures such as colonoscopy, colo-rectal procedures, hernia procedures, and breast procedures are also available.
Medical Education and Research
As faculty members at the principal teaching hospital of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Cooper general surgeons are leaders in medical education and research. Their research includes a clinical trial of a new drug designed to speed recovery after abdominal surgery. The results of their researh have been published in journals such as American Surgeon, Diseases of the Colon and Rectum, and Journal of the American College of Surgeons.
