As science advances, more information is learned every day about disease and where they come from. In breast cancer, there has been much progress which now allows us to test to see if a woman, or man, has a genetic disposition to breast cancer. There are certain individuals who are considered a higher risk for developing certain cancers if they have a gene mutation. In this next series, Dana Clark, M.S., CGC, Certified Genetics Counselor at Cooper, discusses who should get tested, what puts people at an increased risk, the emotional issues of genetic testing, accuracy of such testing, and what people are doing with their results.
