Pediatric Medical SpecialtiesThe Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital offers a comprehensive array of services from adolescent medicine and pediatric cardiology to traumatology and urology performed by the areas best doctors. We have the clinical staff and medical technology to diagnose the most complex pediatric diseases in an environment where the focus is on the child and the family. Adolescent Medicine
This service allows patients ages 12-18 years of age to be seen in an atmosphere specially oriented towards teenagers and their unique health needs. For additional support, child and adolescent psychiatry/psychology, child and adolescent gynecology, nutrition services, speech and language therapy and social services are available for adolescent patients. Allergy / Asthma

Anesthesiology
Every young patient who requires anesthesia for surgical, diagnostic or therapeutic procedures is seen by a physician who specializes in pediatric anesthesiology before anesthesia is administered. Physicians and parents may consult with our highly trained staff about procedures requiring pediatric anesthesia or sedation.

Cardiology
To provide for children who have heart disease, The Children's Regional Hospital has an extensive array of services for diagnosis and treatment. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychology
The Children's Regional Hospital's experienced psychiatrists treat a wide range of child and adolescent problems, including those related to mother-infant bonding, psychosomatic illnesses, post-traumatic stress disorders and psycho-physiological disorders. In addition to our psychiatric services, we have a staff of psychologists who provide comprehensive services. Critical Care Medicine
When a child has a serious illness or has suffered serious trauma, we direct the highest caliber of attention to the child's critical care needs. Our pediatric intensive care service is staffed by pediatric board certified critical care specialists and offers six private rooms designed to care for the most seriously ill or injured children. When patients must be transported here from area hospitals, an experienced team of critical care transport specialists provide ongoing monitoring during the ground or air transport.

Dermatology
Children's Regional Hospital physicians treat infants, children, and adolescents who suffer from serious and minor skin disorders. We have an expert staff prepared to diagnose dermatological problems and to provide young patients with therapy and treatment.

Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics
Comprehensive, coordinated, multidisciplinary services are available for children of all ages with developmental problems ranging from mild developmental delays to severe disorders. Neurodevelopmental assessments and management, psychological testing and intervention, play therapy, learning disability teacher consultation, speech and language consultation and therapy, and physical therapy are available from our multidisciplinary staff. Specific multidisciplinary programs include a Child Evaluation Center, Spina Bifida Program, PKU (Phenylketonuria) Treatment Center, Cerebral Palsy Clinic, Early Intervention Services, Attention Deficit Hyperkinetic Disorder Clinic, Neonatal Follow-up Program, and The Cooper Learning Center. Emergency Medicine
The physicians who staff our Emergency Room are board certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and thereby have the special training and experience to care for the specific needs of children who require emergency care. Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases
Children's HospitalFor children who are diagnosed as having problems with growth, metabolism, or other endocrine abnormalities, our pediatric endocrinology staff provides expert diagnosis and treatment. General Pediatrics
Our general pediatricians offer preventive and primary care, such as immunizations and well baby/well child care, and diagnose and treat acute illnesses in children of all ages while providing anticipatory guidance for their parents. Genetics
As a State-designated regional referral center, The Children's Regional Hospital is well known for its expertise in diagnosing birth defects and genetic disorders and counseling parents and children. Through our multidisciplinary teams which focus on Neurocutaneous Disorders, Skeletal Dysplasias, Connective Tissue Disorders, and Ambiguous Genitalia, these patients can receive lifelong care. Immunology
We diagnose and manage many kinds of immunological diseases, especially in children who have recurrent infections. Experts in immunology treat patients who have AIDS, hypogammaglobulinemia, thymic disorders, chronic granulomatous disease and other immune deficiency diseases. About Immunology.

Infectious Diseases
In addition to treating immune deficiency diseases, we diagnose and administer appropriate treatment to youngsters who have viral, bacterial or fungal infections. The Children's Regional Hospital's infectious disease specialists provide consultative services for patients referred from throughout the Southern New Jersey Region as well as inpatient diagnosis and treatment. Our State- designated Pediatric HIV Treatment Program provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for affected families.

Neonatology
Our specialized staff of neonatologists treats more than 400 term and premature infants each year with medical and surgical problems including those related to prematurity, respiratory, metabolic and birth disorders. To ensure the highest quality of care, our neonatologists are available in-house 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In conjunction with our other medical and surgical specialists, we have the capabilities to care for the region's tiniest and/or most critically ill newborns. Neurology
Our pediatric neurologists screen for and diagnose a variety of neurologic disorders which frequently affect children. Otolaryngology
Otolaryngologists at The Children's Regional Hospital treat a wide spectrum of ear, nose and throat problems by using advanced evaluation and treatment methods for problems ranging from ear infections to tracheostomies. Laser surgery and endoscopic sinus surgery can be employed, as necessary, to resolve problems that affect the overall development of a child's hearing and speech capabilities.

Pediatric Surgery
In pediatric surgery, The Children's Regional Hospital provides for the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care of a wide range of pediatric surgical patients ranging from the premature infant with a birth defect to the adolescent trauma victim. Many surgical procedures can be handled at the Same Day Surgery Center. To help children prepare for the hospital experience, our children life specialists meet with the family and explain to the child what to expect on the day of surgery. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Excellence in reconstructive surgery requires the skilled expertise of the finest surgeons. Patients with cleft palate or craniofacial abnormalities receive comprehensive evaluation and treatment in a specialized multidisciplinary program designed for their needs. Before, during, and after such surgery, the patient's family has access to the counseling and support services provided by our experienced staff.

Pulmonology
We provide in-depth diagnostic testing for patients who have chronic pulmonary problems such as asthma and cystic fibrosis. Following testing and diagnosis, patients are assured of expert care from our pediatric pulmonary subspecialists. Radiation Therapy
When children who have cancer require radiation therapy, they are assured a full complement of services from our radiation oncology department. Technical equipment includes linear acceleration and treatment simulators. Related special services are provided to children and their families by nutritionists and social workers.

Radiology and Nuclear Medicine
With Southern New Jersey's only pediatric radiologists, we have the expertise to detect diseases in children with a minimum number of diagnostic procedures. Radiology resources available include MRI and CAT scanning, ultrasound, x-ray and other techniques for diagnostic examinations of infants and children.

Rehabilitation Medicine
Our multi-disciplinary team of physicians and therapists care for pediatric patients with all levels of physical and cognitive impairments, whether permanent or temporary, to restore the highest possible level of function.

Traumatology
The Southern New Jersey Regional Trauma Center at The Children's Regional Hospital has the expertise and equipment that can literally mean the difference between life and death for young patients. The trauma center is staffed by traumatologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and pediatric intensivists.
