Pediatric Neurology

Pediatric (Child) Neurology at The Children's Regional Hospital at Cooper is a referral program for comprehensive diagnostic assessments and treatment interventions of neurologic disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles in infants, toddlers, school-aged children, and adolescents. Our staff includes board-certified pediatric neurologists, certified pediatric nurse practitioners and social workers.

Evaluation and Treatment

Children are evaluated and treated for neurologic problems such as:

  • Developmental delays
  • Organically-based learning disabilities
  • Headaches/migraines of childhood
  • Epilepsy (seizure disorders)
  • Brain tumors
  • Head trauma (acute and long-term effects)
  • Gross and fine motor deficits (as seen in Cerebral Palsy)
  • Neurologic and neurodevelopmental problems associated with premature and low birth weight infants
  • Infections of the central nervous system
  • Neuromuscular and neurocutaneous diseases
  • Movement disorders
  • Degenerative diseases of the central nervous system

The Cooper Neurologic Institute (CNI)

The Cooper Neurologic Institute (CNI) has established the Pediatric Autism and Epilepsy Programs as a multidisciplinary treatment and research center for diagnosis and treatment of Autistic Spectrum and Epilepsy Disorders. This family centered environment has been distinguished as part of a state-recognized acute-care children’s hospital. Costs of Services

Costs of evaluation and therapy may be covered by private health care insurance plans or Medicaid. A sliding fee scale is also available for those who quality.
