Cooper Hosts Region’s First Mother-Daughter Conference

Cooper for Women, a program of Cooper University Hospital, will host the region’s first-ever Mother-Daughter Day, a community health education event for women and their 9-year-old to 14-year-old daughters, on Saturday, January 26, 2008, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at The Mansion, Main Street Promenade, Voorhees, N.J. 08043.

“Moms and daughters have lots in common when it comes to their interest in being healthy, having positive relationships, and looking and feeling their best,” explains Rosemarie A. Leuzzi, M.D., an internal medicine physician at Cooper University Hospital and medical director of Cooper for Women.  “The goal of our Mother-Daughter Day is to provide education, information and inspiration on a variety of relevant health, wellness and psycho-social issues that will impact the lives of women and their young teen and ‘tween’ daughters.”

The event will open with a keynote address from noted author, motivational speaker and personal life coach Kathleen Hassan. Hassan, the self-described “Queen of Teen Self Esteem,” will present “You’re Fabulous,” a message of positive thinking, acceptance and healthy living.

Following the keynote address, women and girls can choose to attend separate, age-specific workshops on topics such as skin health, stress management, communication, and relationships.  Cooper’s own physicians, nurses and mental health professionals will lead most of these programs and will be on hand throughout the event to serve as resources to attendees.

The day will conclude with a luncheon followed by an interactive “makeover” session presentation by Spa San Marco, of  Mount Laurel, N.J., and a fashion show courtesy of Limited, Too!, of Cherry Hill, N.J.

The cost to attend is $30 for women and $25 for girls ages 9 to 14.  Registration is required. Register by visiting the Cooper for Women homepage or by calling (877) 662-2273.
