Infectious Diseases Fellowship
The Infectious Diseases fellowship is a two-year program. The emphasis in the first year is on clinical consultative infectious diseases. Clinical experience is gained in seeing patients with various infectious diseases or febrile illnesses in the medical and surgical ICUs, the trauma ICU, and general medical and surgical wards.
The fellow develops expertise in the treatment of various infections in immunocompromised hosts. There is a microbiology laboratory rotation and the opportunity to gain expertise in infection control. The second year involves less consultative patient responsibility and more time for research projects. During both years, there is a continuity clinic where the fellow manages HIV-infected patients.
In addition, there are opportunities to do outpatient consults, a solid organ transplant rotation, and a pediatric infectious diseases elective.
