Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Cooper Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons provide comprehensive surgical services for diseases, traumatic injuries, and genetic and developmental deformities of the face, mouth, dentition, jaws, and neck.
As part of the only Level 1 trauma center in South Jersey and Cooper’s Regional Cleft-Craniofacial Program, they rebuild faces shattered by trauma or disease, correct misaligned jaws, and repair defects associated with cleft lip and cleft palate. Cooper’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons use the latest techniques, such as distraction osteogenesis to reset jaws from inside the mouth, to provide patients with safer, more effective treatments, and to maximize appearance while minimizing scarring.
We also offer a full range of pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery options.

Cutting-Edge Oral and Maxillofacial Procedures
Cutting-edge oral and maxillofacial procedures include craniofacial implants, distraction osteogenesis and Zygomaticus implants. Cooper Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons use craniofacial implants to replace eyes, ears, and noses that patients were born without or lost to disease or trauma, and to implant bone-anchored hearing aids. In cleft lip / palate patients, they use distraction osteogenesis to reset jaws from inside the mouth without leaving outside scars. For patients with insufficient bone to anchor traditional dental implants, oral and maxillofacial surgeons use the os zygomaticus to anchor Zygomaticus implants. Traditional oral and maxillofacial procedures such as dental implants and sinus bone grafting are also available.

- Personalized step-by-step treatment plans which start with simple treatments and move on to other treatments as necessary
- A focus on treating TMD without surgery
- Minimally invasive surgery options, as appropriate:, including in-office arthroscopy. Cooper is one of the few centers in the U.S. which offers this. Click here to view minimally invasive oral & maxillofacial surgery options.
- Immediate loading implants to stabilize the jaw joint in patients who are missing teeth: Cooper is one of the only centers in South Jersey using these implants, which can be done in one day.
