Traffic Alert - Route 30 Detour

detourBeginning Saturday, January 24, 2009, New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is initiating a detour which will affect traffic coming to and leaving the hospital by way of Route 30 (Admiral Wilson Boulevard). This detour is a result of construction on the neighboring Campbell’s Soup facility. NJDOT has assured us that the detour will be well marked with signage. Access to and from I-676 to the hospital will not be affected.

We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause and ask for your patience as we show support for our business neighbors.

Following are updated directions to and from the Cooper campus from Route 30.

For Patients and Visitors to the hospital:

  • Follow Route 30, also known as the Admiral Wilson Boulevard, west for approximately 2 miles.
  • After Baird Boulevard, stay in right lane
  • Take Rutgers Exit (2nd after Baird Blvd)—Sign reads “Camden Business District. This becomes Linden Street
  • Turn left at North 7th Street –this becomes Haddon Ave. (note that 7th is a split road at this point, with each side going in a different direction)
  • Continue on Haddon Avenue until you reach Martin Luther King Boulevard (MLK Blvd.)
  • Make a right hand turn on MLK Blvd.
  • At first light, make left into the hospital campus.
  • Valet parking is to the left. Self park is straight ahead. 

For Employees:

  • Follow Route 30, also known as the Admiral Wilson Boulevard, west for approximately 2 miles.
  • After Baird Boulevard, stay in right lane
  • Take Rutgers Exit (2nd after Baird Blvd)—Sign reads “Camden Business District.” This becomes Linden Street
  • Turn left at North 7th Street –this becomes Haddon Ave. (note that 7th is a split road at this point, with each side going in a different direction)
  • Continue on  Haddon Avenue until you reach the hospital campus, and
  • Turn right on Benson Street for the One Cooper Plaza garage OR
  • Continue on Haddon, turning left into the 3 Cooper Plaza garage entrance

PLEASE NOTE: The entrance into the One Cooper Plaza garage from MLK Blvd. is for our visitors’ convenience and was not designed to handle employee commuter volume.

To return to Route 130, Route 38 and Route 70 via Route 30:

  • Take MLK Blvd to second light (at Camden Public Works building)
  • Take a left onto Newton Ave.
  • Continue on Newton Avenue until it merges with Federal Street.
    NOTE: Newton Avenue will be a two-way street during construction.
  • Continue on Federal Street.
  • Federal Street merges directly into Route 30.

Those departing Cooper to the Ben Franklin Bridge via Haddon Avenue and those accessing I 676 will not be affected by the construction.
