Flip FitnessThe Ripa Center for Women’s Health & Wellness at Cooper presents its Summer 2009 small group fitness classes at a variety of times at two convenient locations at Main Street in Voorhees.

Mother/Daughter Zumba -
Latin Dance Aerobics

Zumba is a fun, effective, and simple fitness program that uses fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning, and total body toning.

Use this class as a bonding experience between you and your mother or daughter, while learning great ways to stay in-shape this summer. The explosive Latin rhythms create a party-like atmosphere that deliver results, as well as a “feel happy” workout led by instructor Brooke Blair, Best of Philly Winner!

Classes will be held one time per week for 6 weeks beginning June 30, 2009 from 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Fee: $60 per person or $110 per mother/daughter pair

Flip Fitness

Flip the unique deck of cards for an entire body workout whether you’re a beginner exerciser or a fitness guru. Our certified Flip Fitness instructor will cover strength and conditioning, diet and daily living. This class requires no exercise equipment focusing completely on your body for the workout.

This is a great opportunity for mom & daughter to exercise together. Children 7 and up are welcome accompanied by a participating mom.

Sessions are once a week for six weeks beginning Tuesday, June 30, 2009 , 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Fee: $60 per person or $110 per mother/daughter pair

Tai Chi

Tai ChiTai chi, which originated in China as a martial art, is a mind-body practice. Tai chi is sometimes referred to as “moving meditation” where practitioners move their bodies slowly, gently, and with awareness, while breathing deeply.

Tai chi can reduce pain and stiffness, while improving balance and flexibility. Other benefits include agility, strength and conditioning.

Sessions are once a week for six weeks beginning:

  • Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.

Fee: $60 per person

Back To Basics

This class is ideal for those who are new to exercise or re-introducing fitness into their lifestyle. This class is also designed for the more mature woman with specific exercise needs or challenges like arthritis or osteoporosis. A gentle but still-challenging program, this class will help increase flexibility, range of motion, strength and overall stamina with no age barriers.

This class is held once a week for seven consecutive weeks beginning July 8, 2009 from 10:30 am - 11:30 am.

Fee: $70

Core and More

The Ripa Center for Women has partnered with certified trainers from J.T.’s Fitness to provide this unique program that uses a blend of core training exercises to help strengthen and tone your entire body.

This low-impact, high-intensity workout uses BOSU Balance Trainers, weighted balls, sticks and your own body resistance to build lean muscles while improving endurance, coordination, posture, and body awareness. Please bring a yoga mat, towel, and water bottle and wear comfortable clothing, including sneakers.

Classes will be held twice a week for seven weeks beginning July 13, 2009 from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Fee: $150 for new students (fee includes mandatory, one-time $10 supply fee for weighted hand ball); $140 for retuning students

Yoga for Women

YogaStart the transformation in your life with this ancient practice that will promote a balance between body, mind and spirit. This class will also improve flexibility and muscle strength, elevate endurance and energy, improve breathing and relax the mind. Beginners welcome. Please bring a yoga mat, towel and water bottle and wear comfortable clothing. Beginners welcome!

Classes will be held once a week for seven weeks beginning:

July 13, 2009 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
July 15, 2009 from 9:30 am - 10:30 am
July 15, 2009 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

VIVA Mat Pilates

Loose inches off your waist, stomach and hips; strengthen all your muscles, relieve wrist, neck and shoulder pain and melt away stress. Learn to stregthen and align the muscles that support your back as well as stretch your muscles to ease knots and spasms. Movements are customized to fit each students body. Perfect for all fitness levels, no prior training needed. Girls ages 12 and up may participate with a parent or guardian.

Classes will be held once or twice a week for nine weeks:

  • Mondays beginning July 6, 2009 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm or 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
  • Wednesdays beginning July 15, 2009 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Fee: $136 - 14 classes or $80 - 7 classes *Once or twice a week for seven weeks

Chair Yoga

Receive the benefits of a gentle Hatha yoga class with postures practiced seated in a chair or standing near a chair. Suitable for beginner and intermediate students.

Classes will be held once a week for seven weeks beginning July 13, 2009 fron 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
