Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
Summary:The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is a 16 hour course designed to improve the level of care provided in emergency care settings.
Description:

The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is a 16-hour, two-day course designed to provide core-level trauma knowledge and psychomotor skills associated with the delivery of professional nursing care to the trauma patient. The information is presented through lectures and psychomotor skill stations. The TNCC has been designed by nurses for any nurse who provides care to trauma patients. It is intended to enhance cognitive skills, to sharpen technical skills, and to provide a foundation for future learning. The ultimate purpose is to improve the level of care provided in emergency care settings, large and small, rural and urban. ENA has recommended TNCC as the minimal required education for emergency nurses who care for trauma patients.

Fee: $300 for ENA Members / $350 for Non-ENA Members

Course Schedule: Lectures will start each day promptly at 8:00 am.  Each day will end at approximately 5:30 p.m. Lunch is on your own.

Day One: Morning lectures will include: Biomechanics & Mechanism of Injury, Initial Assessment, Shock, Brain & Crainiofacial Trauma, Thoracic & Neck Trauma, and Abdominal Trauma. The afternoon will focus on Psychomotor Skill Teaching Stations including spinal immobilization, airway & ventilation, chest trauma interventions, and the trauma nursing process.

Day Two: Morning lectures will include: Spinal Cord & Vertebral Column Trauma,. Musculoskeletal Trauma, Burn Trauma, Trauma & Pregnancy, Pediatric Trauma, Geriatric Trauma, Psychosocial Aspects of Trauma Care, and Stabilization, Transfer & Transport.

Afternoon sessions will consist of written and practical evaluations.

Course Completion: To successfully complete the course, the participant must attend all sessions, must score 80% or better on the multiple choice test, and pass all skill stations: Nursing Process, Airway Management, and Spinal Immobilization. It is suggested that all participants read the complete TNCC Provider Course manual, 5th edition, that will be sent to participants prior to the course. A card verifying the successful completion of the TNCC Provider Course will be issued to the RN along with a certificate for 18 continuing education contact hours (CECHs).

Verification remains current for four years.

Refund Policy: Cancellations received at least two weeks prior to the date of the course will receive a refund of monies paid minus the fee of the course manual. No refunds for cancellations within two weeks of the course date.
