Beyond Benzodiazepines is a structured group medical program designed to support patients who are in the process of tapering off benzodiazepines or considering a future taper. The program provides a clinically informed setting for education, shared medical visits, and peer support.
Program Overview
One-on-One Medical Care: During each session, participants meet individually with a provider to address medical concerns, manage their addiction treatment, and adjust treatment plans when necessary.
Clinician-Led Education: Each session includes targeted education from medical professionals on the pharmacology of benzodiazepines, tapering strategies, withdrawal symptom management, and evidence-based approaches to treating anxiety and insomnia during and after the taper process.
Peer Support and Shared Experiences: Patients are encouraged to engage in guided group discussions to reduce isolation, build community, and share strategies for coping with the psychological and physiological effects of tapering.
Integrated Behavioral Health Strategies: Sessions incorporate education on cognitive and behavioral techniques to manage anxiety, depression, and related conditions without sole reliance on medication.
Open to All Stages of Readiness: Individuals who are not yet prepared to initiate a taper are welcome to attend. The group is a space for building knowledge and readiness in a nonjudgmental environment.
