Caring Professionals in LGBTQ+ Care

Dr. Schweitzer is a primary care physician who has worked extensively to improve accessibility to health care for members of the LGBTQ+ community. He has worked with the New Jersey Department of Health to implement and launch TelePrEP – a program connecting patients throughout the state to primary care physicians who can prescribe the proper preventative medication virtually, via telemedicine.  He also is knowledgeable in hormone therapy and has been managing transgender and non-binary patients since 2018.

Dr. Schweitzer has been named among Castle Connolly's Top LGBTQ+ Doctors since 2023, the first year Castle Connolly recognized exceptional doctors within the LGBTQ+ community who have demonstrated outstanding expertise, patient care, and contributions to the field of health care. Dr. Schweitzer was one of only 64 doctors in the United State to receive the designation in 2023.

Dr. Atkinson is a family physician who is dedicated to delivering compassionate and comprehensive care and enjoys caring for the LGBTQ+ community. She offers general wellness care, full-spectrum reproductive health care (including gynecologic procedures such as IUD insertions), hormone therapy, and PrEP for HIV prevention.

Dr. Bass is a family physician who enjoys caring for patients of all ages. She specializes in primary care of underserved populations and reproductive health including hormone therapy to patients across the gender spectrum. She also offers PrEP for HIV prevention and full-spectrum family planning including prenatal care.

Dr. Ehrman-Dupre is a family physician and an addiction specialist who specializes in caring for individuals with substance use disorders. She provides evidence-based addiction treatment as well as primary care services. She is passionate about providing safe and compassionate treatment to LGBTQ+ patients. She has experience with hormone therapy, PrEP for HIV prevention, and reproductive health care.

Dr. Gordon is a family physician who enjoys caring for families, from newborns to geriatrics. She has an interest in LGBTQ+ health care and provides hormone therapy to patients across the gender spectrum in addition to PrEP for HIV prevention. She is also eager to provide general primary care and reproductive health care to LGBTQ+ patients in a welcoming and non-judgmental environment.

Michelle is a board-certified nurse practitioner in Family Medicine with a focus on patient-centered care and harm reduction. She has been with Cooper Family Medicine in Marlton since 2019. She provides primary care across the lifespan and across the gender spectrum in addition to PrEP for HIV prevention. Michelle is able to provide general primary care and reproductive health care to all patients in an open and safe environment.

Ryan is a board-certified physician assistant providing general primary care with a special interest in LGBTQ+ health care. He is welcoming new patients to include care such as hormone therapy, PrEP for HIV prevention, wellness visits, vaccinations, and more. Ryan is dedicated to providing quality medical care in a space that is safe and inclusive.

Dr. Moyer is a family medicine, geriatric, and addiction medicine physician who spends her clinical time caring for those with substance use disorders. While she specializes in the care of older adults, she is passionate about providing safe and compassionate care for LGBTQ+ patients of all ages. She has experience with PrEP for HIV prevention through both primary care and specialty clinics, and practices in the Camden and Pennsville offices for outpatient addiction care.

Dr. Sathe is an internist with a special focus on primary care for patients living with HIV and substance use disorders. She has an interest in LGBTQ+ health care and provides hormone therapy to patients across the gender spectrum, as well as PrEP for HIV prevention. She strives to provide trauma-informed care in a safe, inclusive environment.

Dr. Bauer earned his medical degree from Medical College of Pennsylvania, interned and did his general surgery residency at Medical College of PA/Hahnemann School of Medicine, and did his plastic surgery fellowship at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Bauer specializes in breast surgery and cosmetic procedures, including top surgery and facial feminization procedures. 

Dr. Bonawitz has been at Cooper since 2015. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Syracuse and completed his residency in plastic surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Bonawitz was a member of the faculties at the University of Pittsburgh and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine before assuming the position of Division Head of Plastic Surgery at Cooper University Health Care. Dr. Bonawitz specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast, including top surgery procedures.

Dr. Fahey earned her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, and interned at North Shore University Hospital, where she also completed a residency in general surgery. She completed her plastic surgery residency at Cooper and plastic surgery fellowships at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, and Charlotte Plastic Surgery Center, P.A. Dr. Fahey specializes in plastic surgery and breast reconstruction because of the technical challenges, including top surgery.

Dr. Díaz Garcia is an otolaryngologist who is fellowship-trained in laryngology. She has an interest in providing care to the LGBTQ+ community and has experience managing transgender voice needs. Dr. Diaz Garcia offers the Wendler glottoplasty for voice feminization. She works in conjunction with our speech therapists and is committed to providing patient-centric and holistic treatment plans to ensure the best possible voice outcome.

Dr. Gor is a reconstructive urologist who focuses on improving the urinary and sexual health of all patients. His training in urethral reconstruction allows him to manage challenging conditions such as stricture and fistula. He offers vulvoplasty but does not offer vaginoplasty. He also performs testicular removals (orchiectomy), scrotoplasty, penile implants, Peyronie’s disease surgery, and penile cosmetic surgery. He is passionate about improving the dialogue between patients and doctors regarding sexual dysfunction in the LGBTQ+ community. Dr. Gor currently partners with the Philadelphia chapter of the Advocacy and Services for LGBT Elders (SAGE) and is always looking for opportunities to meet with individuals and groups in the South Jersey area. Dr. Gor does not perform bottom surgeries, but is able to manage complications that may follow.

Dr. Gruner a fellowship-trained breast surgeon who has performed top surgery for trans men in the southern New Jersey and Philadelphia areas for many years. His staff takes pride in their knowledge and sensitivity toward our patients in this community and go above and beyond to make every step as comfortable as possible.​

Dr. Landers is an otolaryngologist who is fellowship trained in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. She is passionate about performing surgical and non-surgical interventions to help patients feel more comfortable and confident with their external appearance and has an interest in providing care to the LGBTQ+ community. Dr. Landers offers facial surgery for transgender and non-binary patients.

Dr. Yagnik is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who works closely with our physicians to provide care for the LGBTQ+ community. He offers surgical procedures with a focus on oral and facial reconstruction; jaw, midface, forehead, and orbital remodeling; orthognathic surgery; upper lip lift; buccal fat pad reduction; and dental implants.

Dr. DeAngelo is a health psychologist based primarily in the Center for Comprehensive Health. He has experience with HIV-related mental health concerns, serious and persistent mental illness, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and LGBTQ+ health care. Dr. DeAngelo provides psychotherapy and evaluations prior to initiating hormone therapy and surgeries.

Dr. Fizur is a health psychologist focused mainly on adult integrated primary care. He has an interest in LGBTQ+ health care and provides evaluations prior to initiating hormone therapy and surgeries, as well as psychotherapy. Psychotherapy is not limited to LGBTQ+ issues; anyone seeking treatment for depression, anxiety, or other issues related to their health and well-being are welcomed in a welcoming and non-judgmental environment.

Dr. Goodwin is committed to enhancing the well-being of the LGBTQ+ community at Cooper. She understands that the decision to undergo hormone therapy and/or surgeries is an important, and exciting, life event! To that end, she provides thorough, sensitive, and time-efficient assessments for individuals seeking hormone therapies and surgeries. She also provides evidence-based psychotherapy to treat depression, anxiety, and trauma.

Assessments are completed in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Three Cooper Plaza (Sheridan Pavilion) in Camden, New Jersey.

Dr. McMahon is a health psychologist focused in integrated primary care and providing services in the Center for Comprehensive Health since 2014. She has experience with HIV-related health concerns, LGBTQ+ health care, and the management of chronic health conditions like cancer or diabetes. She is able to work with patients seeking evaluations in preparation for hormone therapy and surgeries and is also happy to help patients seeking to address more specific health challenges like pain, sexual functioning, or the desire to quit smoking.

Dr. Malik is an OB/GYN physician with a master’s degree in public health. She aims to provide compassionate care to all patients, including those in the LGBTQ+ community. She offers routine screening as well as surgical care. She currently sees patients in Marlton and Washington Township.

Dr. Schaeffer is an OB/GYN with interest in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and providing patient-centered care. She has provided gynecologic screening and hysterectomies since 2019. She has been in practice since 2005, with offices in Camden and Washington Township.

Dr. Shearer is an OB/GYN physician whose intention is to provide comforting and collaborative care to all patients. She offers routine gynecologic care and surgical care to the LGBTQ+ community. She currently sees patients in Burlington Township.
