You want confidence in your imaging results. At Cooper that’s exactly what we provide – peace of mind delivered by our expert team of board-certified radiologists, fellowship-trained subspecialists, and South Jersey’s only two board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric radiologists.
Our convenient South Jersey and Jersey Shore radiology locations provide an extensive array of imaging services for adults and children. Each facility is outfitted with advanced equipment and technology that pairs precise imaging and reporting with patient comfort and safety.
Cooper provides the following radiology services:
Performed to detect several conditions that include bone and joint issues, complex bone fractures, and tumors. A computed tomography (CAT/CT) scan uses a combination of X-rays and a computer to create images of organs, bones, and other tissues inside the body.
Getting a CAT/CT scan at Cooper is a short and painless imaging procedure. And our advanced technology delivers the best in patient safety using only a low dose of X-ray radiation.
A DEXA scan (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) is a low-dose X-ray test that measures bone density. It’s the most accurate way to screen for osteoporosis and assess your risk for fractures.
DEXA scans are quick, painless, and typically measure bone mineral content in the hip or spine. The results help your doctor make decisions about bone health, prevention strategies, or treatment.
Conducted to diagnose broken bones, arthritis, dislocated joints, cancer, and several other conditions, an X-ray is an imaging procedure that takes pictures of the inside of the body.
At Cooper, our experienced team uses updated technology to conduct low dose X-rays at each of our five convenient South Jersey locations.
Mammography is a specialized X-ray imaging technique used to examine breast tissue for early signs of cancer and other breast conditions. It is widely used as both a screening tool for women without symptoms and a diagnostic tool for women who may have breast changes or concerns.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses a computer, radio waves, and a large magnet to produce complete images of inside the body. Doctors prescribe MRIs to detect a wide array of diseases and injuries, including cancer, brain injuries, and heart disease.
At Cooper, our expert team prides itself in easing patient anxiety by providing a welcoming, comfortable, and safe environment for MRIs.
A positron emission tomography (PET) scan does more than provide images, it shows how your body is working inside. PET scans are typically conducted to identify diseases, such as cancer, and see how treatment of a disease is working. When combined with a CT scan, a PET/CT provides a highly accurate diagnoses.
At Cooper, our team of expert radiologists conduct PET/CT scans at each of our five area state-of-the-art imaging facilities.
Typically identified with imaging during pregnancy, an ultrasound uses sound waves to examine many of the body’s internal organs, including the liver, kidneys, thyroid, and pancreas. This safe, and painless, exam allows doctors to identify existing conditions and determine next steps in treatment.
At Cooper, our highly experienced imaging team conducts ultrasounds at each of our five nearby South Jersey locations.
A fluoroscopy/arthrogram provides live, real-time, X-ray imaging during a specific procedure – enema, catheterization, placement of stents, orthopaedic surgery – or to diagnose a condition.
While exposure varies by procedure, our highly experienced team at Cooper goes to great lengths to ensure that fluoroscopies are conducted with the lowest acceptable radiation for the shortest period of time necessary.
Nuclear medicine imaging uses small amounts of radioactive material to produce gamma rays, which are detected by a computer to create images of inside the body. This imaging procedure provides advanced detection and treatment for conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and neurological disorders.
The Radiology team at Cooper University Hospital are South Jersey’s nuclear medicine experts at providing patient safety and precise results at our welcoming and comfortable facilities.
Radioembolization is primarily used to treat liver cancer. During the procedure radioactive particles are delivered through the bloodstream to target tumors, and kill cancer cells. Radioembolization is typically recommended as part of ongoing cancer treatments, such as surgery and/or chemotherapy that patients are receiving.
At Cooper, our Radiology team is the area’s radioembolization experts, working in conjunction with our world-renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper team.
Cooper offers the most expansive imaging services in the region. In addition to those listed above, our team of highly experienced radiologists perform many highly specialized, advanced imaging procedures to diagnose or monitor a variety of conditions.
At Cooper, we offer imaging for medical and surgical specialties including endocrinology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, neurology, orthopaedics, and urology.
Whether you need an X-ray today or a more comprehensive imaging exam, our walk-in X-ray services and scheduled radiology appointments are here to give you the answers you need.
Cooper offers weight-bearing CT imaging that captures detailed 3D images while you are standing in a natural position, allowing physicians to see how bones and joints align and function under normal body weight. Unlike traditional CT scans performed while lying down, this imaging approach can help identify joint instability, alignment issues, and other conditions that may not appear on standard imaging.
Weight-bearing CT supports more accurate diagnoses, personalized treatment planning, and improved surgical planning for conditions affecting the feet, ankles, knees, and hips.

Understanding Radiology & Imaging
You may hear the terms radiology and imaging (or diagnostic imaging) used interchangeably, but they refer to different parts of the same care process. Both play an important role in helping your care team diagnose conditions, guide treatment, and monitor your health.
Imaging
Imaging (also called medical imaging or imaging tests) refers to the technology and procedures used to create pictures of the inside of your body. These can include as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds and mammograms. These images help detect injuries and conditions and track changes over time.
Imaging exams are typically performed by trained technologists such as radiologic technologists or sonographers, who focus on capturing clear, accurate images.
Radiology
Radiology is the medical specialty that uses those images to diagnose and, in some cases, treat disease. Radiologists are physicians who review and interpret imaging studies, provide diagnostic reports and may perform image-guided procedures such as biopsies.
For example, if you are at higher risk for breast cancer, a mammogram is reviewed by a radiologist to look for early signs of disease and determine next steps.
In simple terms, imaging is the tool creates the images, and radiology is a medical specialty that interprets them and helps guide your care. You will receive both an imaging test and radiological interpretation when you schedule with us.

Backed by this reputation, you can trust Cooper to deliver readings that you can have confidence in when your doctor prescribes imaging.
Our highly experienced team consists of board-certified radiologists, fellowship-trained subspecialists, and South Jersey’s only two board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric radiologists.
You’ll find peace of mind in your results knowing that a cardiac subspecialist radiologist reads a cardiac image, a pediatric subspecialist radiologist reads a pediatric image, and so on.
Access to this level of expertise is a major difference that Cooper delivers, and it doesn’t end there.
