Dr. Evan Schreyer is recognized as Resident of the Quarter by Dr. Antoinette Spevetz, MD, FCCM, FACP, FCCP, Designated Institutional Official.

Congratulations to Dr. Evan Schreyer, a PGY-3 in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Cooper, who was named Resident of the Quarter! Here are a few comments from the colleagues who nominated him: "Evan has continually gone above and beyond expectations as an internal medicine resident. He leads by example: he is hard working, always willing to lend a hand to colleagues, and prioritizes teaching of both medical students and fellow residents. He provides excellent patient care by being a proficient resident physician and his calm, yet confident demeanor puts others at ease. He advocates effectively on behalf of his patients and communicates in a respectful manner that has earned him the esteem of colleagues, including other members of the housestaff, attendings, nurses, and other allied health professionals. He has surely left a lasting impression on our residency program, and his presence will be missed when he begins his cardiology fellowship in Connecticut in July." "I am nominating Evan Schreyer for Resident of the Quarter because he is the standard of excellence for our program. Whether Evan is helping colleagues place central lines in the CCU, or seeing patients in suite 215, his commitment to teamwork, evidence based medicine and compassionate patient care is unmatched. For example, when we were on nights and I was 8-months pregnant, a code was called in the cath lab. He sprinted from across the hospital and was the first one there because he knew that I could not help with the code. He immediately put on lead and started doing chest compressions in the blink of an eye. In addition, his commitment to our program is so strong that even when he was on vacation in Alaska, he was the first to respond to emails and answer questions for colleagues. Evan uses his tremendous skill set and knowledge to mentor other residents and advocate for our program. He has revitalized our Journal Club Curriculum and been an integral part of our Quiz Bowl Team for all three years of residency. He can quote guidelines from the ACP for outpatient diabetes management just as quickly as a randomized control trial in Chest. He has such a good rapport with other providers that the minute he walks into the CCU, you can tell that all of the nurses breathe a sigh of relief. It is truly an honor to call him a colleague and friend." "Dr. Schreyer is a hardworking senior resident who constantly teaches and has the best clinical knowledge base in the residency." "Evan is an excellent resident. He is poised and confident when managing patients and teaching. He is always willing to help peers and go out of his way. He is very knowledgeable and will make a great cardiologist." Congratulations, Dr. Schreyer, thank you for all you do!
