About Me

Dr. Salzman graduated from Jefferson Medical College and trained in emergency medicine and medical toxicology at Drexel University College of Medicine. He is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, and an Attending Physician in Emergency Medicine and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Salzman is board-certified in emergency medicine, medical toxicology, and addiction medicine. He also is a volunteer consultant at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Poison Control Center. Dr. Salzman has been an invited lecturer locally, regionally, and nationally, speaking about commonly misused substances, contaminants therein, and the opioid epidemic. He, along with his collaborators, received a grant from the Emergency Medicine Foundation and NIDA to develop a substance use disorder curriculum for the emergency medicine residency at CMRSU. Dr. Salzman is Medical Director of Research for the Division of Addiction Medicine, and is hence heavily involved in helping to design, implement, and review research in the field conducted by our faculty or in partnership with other departments. He is currently working on the opioid genomics project in conjunction with CMSRU and the Coriell Science Institute and beginning several studies in conjunction with the emergency department, and is mentoring students and residents with research interests in the field.
