Administrative Fellowship

The Cooper University Health Care Administrative Fellowship is a one-year program designed to immerse future health care leaders in the core functions of a health care system. Fellows live out Cooper’s mission by serving on meaningful projects, supporting initiatives that drive patient healing, and learning from leaders who are passionate about educating the next generation.

Cooper University Health Care serves the Southern New Jersey and Delaware Valley regions, including the Philadelphia metro area. Fellows are based at Cooper’s main campus in Camden, New Jersey, with opportunities to travel to ambulatory centers and Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional in Cape May County.

Structure

Fellows begin their experience with an orientation and introductions to members of the executive suite. One-on-one meetings are scheduled with senior leaders across the organization, including SVPs, VPs, and AVPs. Fellows may also reach out to other leaders within the system based on personal interests.

From these meetings, fellows identify and begin work on a variety of projects. These may include leading initiatives, supporting research, analyzing data, contributing to strategic planning, and more. Fellows also have the opportunity to shadow departments and round with leaders throughout the facilities. Shadowing may be tied to project work or pursued independently based on learning goals.

The fellowship offers exposure to both hospital and ambulatory operations and offers access to clinical and academic learning opportunities as part of Cooper’s academic medical center environment. Fellows are encouraged to attend meetings that align with their interests and are given access to observe key executive discussions.

Preceptors

Weekly dedicated meetings with the preceptors provide ongoing support, mentorship, and opportunities to adjust project scope or direction.
