At Cooper, our certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) are clinical innovators who utilize the scientific process and national standards as a framework for providing extraordinary care while functioning within scope of practice and as part of a collaborative team with physicians and other team members. They serve as clinicians, health care researchers, professional educators, interdisciplinary consultants, and patient advocates.
Our Cooper team includes more than 70 full-time CRNAs who provide safe and effective patient-centered care in collaboration with our anesthesiologists as part of an integrated Anesthesia Care Team Model. CRNAs assess patients pre-operatively, administer anesthesia, monitor patients during procedures, and teach patients about the side effects of anesthesia.
Cooper CRNAs provide anesthesia in the operating room as well as other clinical support areas, including obstetrics, radiology, pediatric MRI, electrophysiology lab, GI/bronchoscopy suites, neuro-intervention lab, cardiac catheterization lab, pain management, and pre-admission testing clinic. They also staff Cooper’s colonoscopy and endoscopy suites in Camden, Moorestown, Mount Laurel, and Willingboro and the operating rooms and procedure suites at our surgery centers in Voorhees and Moorestown.
Additionally, Cooper CRNAs provide round-the-clock coverage in Trauma Intensive Care and Trauma Admitting, and respond to hospital and stat floor intubations, where they quickly identify and manage these emergency situations.
