About Me

Dr. McGeehan was a solo practice primary care physician for more than 30 years and served as the Director of Medical Education and Chair of Medicine at Mercy Hospital in Scranton, PA. He developed, directed, and taught in the first-year course in clinical medicine at Temple University School of Medicine. He played a role in establishing The Geisinger Commonwealth Medical College where he created and chaired the admissions process in addition to teaching medicine and medical ethics. 

He was the inaugural Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU). He played a national role in Holistic Review and has served on the Advisory Committee for the Association of American Medical College’s Advancing Holistic Review Initiative (AHRI). He is now teaching in the classroom and at the bedside, and he is involved in growing the Center for Humanism at CMSRU.

He is currently Chair of the Medical Ethics Committee at Cooper University Hospital and past Chair of the Bioethics Committee of the New Jersey Medical Society. Dr. McGeehan has given more than 200 presentations for Category I CME credit. He is a coauthor of the textbook Health Care Ethics: Principles and Problems.
