Addiction Care for New and Expectant Mothers

The Center offers judgement-free and evidence-based care to people with substance use disorders while pregnant or parenting. Through its Empowering Mothers to Parent and Overcome With Resilience (EMPOWR) program, the Center for Healing provides soon-to-be or new birthing parents with compassionate care for use disorders and offers patient navigation and wraparound services. 

EMPOWR operates on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 808 Market Street, 2nd Floor, Camden, NJ 08103. Emergency care is always available through the emergency department.

Services offered:

Physical Health Services

  • Collegial group visits with one-on-one medical care
  • Coordination of inpatient medical stabilization.
  • Evidence based outpatient addiction medicine care including MAT
  • Nutritional support (healthy meals at group visits, fresh produce)
  • On-demand access to primary, prenatal, and pediatric care

Mental Health Services

  • Creative wellness
  • Group and individual therapy with expertise in trauma recovery
  • Peer support
  • Psychiatric evaluation and management

Social Support

  • Assistance for those without health insurance
  • Emergency housing resources (when available)
  • Legal services
  • On site child enrichment during group meetings (when available)
  • Resource support for needed infant/baby items
  • Scheduling and transportation assistance
